Momentum Communications Group was recognized today as the nation’s best nonprofit PR firm at the PR News 2013 Agency Elite Awards.

The awards recognize the nation’s top PR agencies by practice area.  Momentum won the award for Best Work on Behalf of a Nonprofit/Association.  The agency was also nominated for Best Training/Education Program for its media training initiatives.

In the award citation, PR News noted:  “Momentum’s company name is fittingly appropriate as it is effectively driving its clients’ messages forward by transforming unlikely suspects into media-savvy spokespeople.”

Launched in 2012 to bring a new way of thinking to nonprofit communications, Momentum has established itself as a force in the nonprofit sector, building a client base of institutions such as the Siemens Foundation, Marine Stewardship Council, College Board and Knowles Science Teaching Foundation.

“The nonprofit community holds a special place in our economy and culture,” said Jim Miller, president of Momentum Communications Group.  “Serving the communications needs of this community requires an expert’s sensitivity, an advocate’s commitment, and a professional’s tenacity.  It’s an honor to be recognized for these attributes at the Agency Elite Awards and a privilege to serve the nonprofit sector.”

Momentum’s team of communicators previously received two consecutive wins for Best Media Relations at the Nonprofit PR Awards (2011–2012), and a nomination for Best Word of Mouth/Viral campaign at the 2012 Platinum PR Awards.  The team’s work was also nominated for Best Marketing and Best Event PR at the 2011 and 2012 PR News Nonprofit PR Awards.

The winners of the Agency Elite Awards were announced on September 10 at the Grand Hyatt in New York City.
